Interview Skills for All

We will be hosting an ‘Interview Skills for All’ session on Thursday 6th July from 7pm to 9pm.

This session is designed to help people of all backgrounds with applications / interviews. Our mentors are from Education, Business and Health backgrounds.

Suggested donation of £5 per person with pre-booking advised.

Painting Classes

We will be hosting a series of Painting Classes in our centre beginning with an hour introductory session on Thursday 27th July from 7pm-8pm with subsequent sessions  Thursdays 7 – 9.30pm with a final exhibition class on Thursday 24th August.

The classes will cost £45 per person if you would like to reserve a place please call 028 7964 2677.

MHS 2022 AGM

We will be holding our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 7th December at 8pm in our centre.

The A.G.M will be followed by a Power – Point Presentation on the
history of Postcards through the years by David Lennox. Bring in a postcard and have it assessed and valued.

We would appreciate your presence on the evening so come along and find out what the plans are for 2023.

Ulster Museum Trip

We will be hosting a trip to the Ulster Museum and Botanic Gardens on Friday 2nd December. We will depart from Maghera Heritage Centre at 10am and return at 3.30pm.

The cost of the trip is £12 for members and £15 for non-members.

Refreshments will be available at the café in the Museum.

There are limited spots available, if you are interested call our centre at 028 7964 2677.

Book Launch

We will be hosting the launch of James Alistair Bodkin’s book ‘The Londonderry Militia’ (16th Regiment of Irish Militia) 1793-1816, on Saturday 10th December 2022 from 1 – 3pm at our centre.

The author will be present on the day of the launch for book signing.

Crafty Mammy Pop-Up Shop

We recently hosted a Pop-Up Shop in our centre for local business Crafty Mammy Fabrics on Friday 18th November.

Thank you to everyone who called in to browse the colourful stalls full of crafty goods, wool, haberdashery, handmade Christmas decorations & fabric.

It was a fantastic day with lots of crafting, tea, coffee, chat and a sing-along.

Thank you also to Claire, we look forward to Crafty Mammy Fabrics returning with her Pop-Up Shop again in the New Year.

Tourism Information Event

We recently hosted a stand at Mid Ulster Councils Tourism event at The Glenavon Hotel, Cookstown.

It was great to meet the other exhibitors showcasing what they have to offer tourists and visitors to Mid Ulster.

Place Names Talk Part II

The follow up to our talk on Local Place Names -‘their meaning & relevance’ will be held in the Heritage Centre on Thursday 27th October.

The talk by Dr. Séamas Donnelly will look at place names from a historical perspective and will offer strange and not so strange occurrences used to name places.

Knit & Knatter

We have been hosting a number of meetings of our Knit & Knatter group in recent weeks and have welcomed some new faces to the group.

Thank you everyone for bringing in samples of finished projects for us to look at.

We now have a selection of Knitting and Haberdashery products available in our centre from Crafty Mammy Fabrics.

Our next Knit & Knatter meeting is on Tuesday 1st November 10.30am-12.30pm.

Local Place Name Talk

We recently hosted a talk on Local Place Names by Dr Séamas Donnelly on Thursday 22nd September at 7.30pm.

We had one of our biggest turn outs since Covid Lockdown and we are looking forward to inviting Dr Donnelly back again for a further talk on place names.
